Cabbagetown Festival

Performance at the Cabbagetown Street Festival was a success!

Thanks to a warm and active audience and thanks to the rain that stopped right before our performance.
Our dancers had to dance barefoot on a concrete sidewalk, but it didn't stop them from doing a great job!

After it's last sold out show, Ismailova Theatre of Dance returns on May 12th and 13th to honour the memory of the heroes and victims of World War II in its newest production, Wings.

Watch trailer here.

In a touching tribute to the life and death of Sadako Sasaki of Hiroshima, Ismailova Thea
tre of Dance puts its signature twist on the beloved story of 1000 paper cranes. Enfolding elements of Sadako's story into this new vision of survival, Wings aspires to look beneath the shadows of a broken community and their struggle for rebirth.
In the midst of of the great turmoil, resistance to fear is found in a single act of hope: folding cranes.

The unique physical style of dance that Ismailova is known for showcases the moving story of a vulnerable soul caught in the aftermath of the atomic bomb.Wings releases an emotion-driven performance through the storytelling talents of tango, tap, contemporary and "flying low" technique of dance. The live elements of violin and voice underscore the moving journey that asks the question: Can ancient art heal modern wounds?
